Recruitment & Employment

A) Recruitment
All research positions within VUmc are recruited by VUmc’s own recruitment team and are posted on www.werkenbijvumc.nl . If you have any questions regarding a position, pleade do not hesitate to contact the recruitment department at +31(0)20 – 444 5635 or by e-mail: werkenbij@vumc.nl . All candidates must master the English language if you want to be considered for a research position. Depending on the research project, mastering the Dutch language is not mandatory.

B) Employment
Research positions are almost allways financed by external organisations. Within a specific amount of time (usually a period of 4 years) the research will have to be completed and a scientific publication submitted. Generally we will start an employment contract for an initial period of 12 months, which will be extended if the candidate shows potential. All employment contracts are subject to the collective labour agreement for university medical centers in the Netherlands.

C) Personnel without a labour contract
In some cases, an employment contract is not desirable, mostly due to the nature of the position. Yet, you will have to perform specific duties within our organization. If this is the case, you will receive an ‘agreement’ which will ensure you are registered as working at our organization and are therefor insured by Dutch law.

  • Internships
  • Visiting scientists
  • Scholarship students
  • Guests
