Short introduction

Rashmi is the Head of Research in Education at VUmc School of Medical Sciences Amsterdam since 2012 and her research on motivation in education is her passion. She is originally a medical doctor from India with specialization in Physiology. She has rich experience (9 years) in teaching, education coordination, assessment and faculty training in India. She completed her PhD in medical education from UMC Utrecht, the Netherlands. She was awarded the "Best Thesis Prize 2014" by the Dutch Medical Education Association (NVMO) among all medical education theses completed in 2012 and 2013 in the Netherlands and Belgium.  She was also awarded the Basic Teaching Qualification (BKO) by UMC Utrecht in 2011. She is Faculty on the Self-Determination Theory website, Interuniversitair Centrum voor Onderwijs (ICO), LEARN! Institute and GSMC-FAIMER Regional Institute, Mumbai, India. 

Research interests

Rashmi´s main interest is in research on human motivation. She works on this issue in context with selection for medical school, learning and academic performance, interprofessional education, professional behaviour etc.
