ProVUmc is a committee that represents VU University medical center PhD students. ProVUmc aims to improve PhD education, regulation and communication within VU University medical center. This includes updating and improving the VU University medical center information for PhD students online, advising on the adjusted Vrije Universiteit doctorate regulations (promotiereglement) and improving the information on available courses offered at the different research institutes of VU University medical center. Furthermore, ProVUmc also represents VUmc PhD students in the national PhD network: Promovendi Netwerk Nederland (PNN).
The committee consists of PhD representatives from all VU University medical center research institutes, PhD representatives from the education and research committee (O&O) of the VU University medical centers work council (OR) and the VU University medical center PhD representative of ProVU. PhD related issues are discussed in a two monthly meeting. Issues that are important for all VU University medical center PhD students are then discussed with the dean of VU University medical center.
ProVUmc is dependent on your input, so please do not hesitate to contact one of the members if you're signaling any PhD related problems.

Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam is very diverse. Faculties are worlds in themselves, but it is very easy to find unity among PhD candidates.
With the support of the International Office (Reyka Lycklama a Nijeholt and Sandra Hasanefendic), candidates from several faculties have joined efforts to build a PhD association.
This innovative body has the goal of actively engaging all PhD candidates at our university and developing activities by and for the PhD candidates.
These activities are almost always organized in the Global Room (Main Building 1A-36).
You can see all the upcoming activities in the online meetup.com calendar.
All PhD candidates are particularly encouraged to sign up for the MeetUp platform and find the group VU International Staff.
Please also visit the facebook group VU PHD Gatherings. All activities, events and news are posted in the facebook group regularly.
If you would like to coordinate one of the activities please send an email to email@example.com and Sauvik or Juliana will be happy to help.
