Linda Bosch is a molecular biologist, with special interest in the epigenetic and genetic interplay in the regulation of gene expression in cancer cells.
Her current research focuses on DNA methylation in colorectal cancer. The projects in which she is involved include the identification of new hypermethylated genes in colorectal cancer progression and the implementation of methylation markers in a stool-based DNA test for the early detection of colorectal cancer.
After acquiring her Bachelor of Applied Science degree in "Biology and Medical research" in 2003, Linda Bosch started the master of Oncology at the VU University in Amsterdam, where she was selected for participation in the honours program. For her final internship, she went to Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA, where she investigated DNA methylation patterns in LCIS, DCIS and invasive breast cancers, under supervision of dr. H. Carraway and prof. JG Herman. In 2005, she completed the master's program in Oncology and graduated Cum Laude. Right after graduation, she started her PhD at the Tumor Profiling group of Prof. Gerrit Meijer, in the Department of Pathology at the VU University Medical Center Amsterdam.
