Within the EMGO Institute for Health and Care Research (EMGO Institute, www.emgo.nl ) of the VU University Medical Center the interdisciplinary research group Community Genetics is functioning since 1998. The EMGO Institute participates in the Netherlands School of Primary Care Research (CaRe), which is acknowledged by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW).

The research group 'Community Genetics' is part of the Task Force Societal Genomics (MAG-CMSB) of the Genomics Centre of Excellence Center for Medical Systems Biology  (www.cmsb.nl).
